Davelyn Hill (they/she), also known as Davelyn – Athena, is a Black Queer woman+ abolitionist who was born and raised in the south. They are a Black creative life coach who believes that wholehearted living has helped her move from auto pilot to aliveness. Davelyn embodies love and joy which helps her live an expansive life and be the Executive Director for Speaking Down Barriers. SDB is an organization whose mission is Equity for all. She+ has a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Converse College. Alongside providing counseling services, she+ has led support groups, presented research, and conducted university presentations around racial trauma and oppression. Davelyn enjoys facilitating dialogue and presenting about equity and journeying with folx through the grieving process. They enjoy facilitating groups and retreats around grief and wholeness.
Davelyn Athena, is an author, poet, and intuitive painter. She+ also has a (MFA) creative writing with an emphasis in poetry from Converse University. Davelyn Athena is a poet activist. She uses poetry as a medium to push conversation toward equity. Davelyn brings her creativity into every facet of her life whether writing poems or painting. Davelyn’s poem “Deloris” was published by the Plant and Poetry Journal. Her poem “Questions” was featured online through Spark and Echo. “Galaxy Meditation” and Hemochromatosis were published by The Nelligan Review. Her writing deals with living in a time of systemic racism and imagining a new world where equity is a reality.
